When I went to study abroad in Barcelona in 2019 there was a lot of civil unrest and protesting the government and the city’s dependence on tourism. I started taking photos of the graffiti around the city because it's basically a form of art as a protest. It was only in 2020 during quarantine that I put it all together and made it into a zine representing my experience in the city from an outsider's perspective. I wanted to tell the story starting in a glamorous way and then it gets more real and direct by the end.

Cuando fui a estudiar en el extranjero a Barcelona en 2019, hubo muchos disturbios civiles y protestas contra el gobierno y la dependencia de la ciudad del turismo. Empecé a tomar fotos de los grafitis por la ciudad porque es básicamente una forma de arte como protesta. Recién en 2020, durante la cuarentena, lo armé todo y lo convertí en una revista que representaba mi experiencia en la ciudad desde la perspectiva de un extraño. Quería contar la historia comenzando de una manera glamorosa y luego se vuelve más real y directa al final.
