tongue

I bit my tongue so hard last night
That the blood trailed down my chin
It reached the floor
Past my big toe
And pooled next to the bin

My mouth felt weird
As if my tongue wasn’t there
So I ran to a mirror
To see for myself
If I truly had left my mouth bare

I saw red and the words unsaid
Swirling in my mouth
The stuff I craved
To shout out loud
But kept in when things went south
