album review: love is not dying

Quick Rating: 8/10

I’ve listened to this album all the way through about five times now. I love it. It’s the perfect combination of poppy beats and heartfelt/sad lyrics – my favorite genre.

My favorites from the album are:

  1. “somebody loves you”
  2. “not ur friend”
  3. “oh, mexico”

The rest are good too, but these stood out the most to me. They’re ‘adding-to-a-playlist’ material.

“somebody loves you” is pretty upbeat, which made it stand out the most. It gave me The 1975 vibes. Also, his voice while singing the chorus sounds lovely. We all love somebody that doesn’t love us back. It’s all good, though; not everyone has to love us back – it’s just a part of life. Don’t waste your time trying to change their mind. That’ll never work.

“not ur friend” was a really good one lyrically. The lyrics hit close to home. Why do we think we have to be friends with everyone? Cut toxic people out of your life. Fuck that.

Lastly, “oh mexico” is a sweet breakup song about growing and going off on your own. Really touching and worth listening to.

The only song I don’t like is “you were good to me (bonus track)” because I don’t quite like Chelsea Cutler’s voice. That’s my own personal opinion. We don’t have to agree.

Overall, I say listen to the album in your room or while you’re driving. It’s quite soothing and soft, not obtrusive in any way.
